• God’s Word is to be Trusted
• God’s Word is to be Tested
• God’s Word to be Tasted

Why we should listen to God’s Word

1. God’s Word is powerful unto Salvation (Romans. 1:16-17)
2. We live by God’s Word (Matthew 4:4)
3. Our Faith come by hearing God’s Word (Romans 10:17)
4. Our ways are cleanse by God’s Word (Psalms 119:9 – 10)
5. There will be famine of hearing God’s Word (Jeremiah.   )

The Word of God and Righteousness

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Doctrine - What is right
Reproof - What is not right
Correction - How to get right
Instruction - How to keep right

In Righteousness
The Scripture teaches us how to be right with God, men and self.

The Word of God as
- Seed (Doctrine) Luke 8:11
- Sword (Reproof) Eph 6:17
- Fire (Correction) Jer 23:29
- Lamp (Instruction) Psa 119:105

It is Written! Matthew 4:

1. Writing is God’s Nature (Mark on Cain, Decalogue & writing on the Wall)
2. Writing is God’s Command (Revelation, Inspiration, Illumination, Interpretation)
3. Writing is God’s Gifts (preaching prophets & apostles and writing prophets & apostles)

Our Responds to God’s Word Luke 8:5-8, 11-18

The seed that brought forth the harvest responded God’s word in the following manner:-

1.        Hear God’s Word (John 5:24)

a.     Jesus said those who have ear let him hear. Matt 4:9

b.     Salvation comes by hearing. Romans 1:16 ; 10:17; Heb 3:7,15

c.     To know God’s heart and will for us. Ps.65:7

2.        Study God’s Word (2 Timothy 2:15)

d.     Edification (2 Timothy 3:16)

e.     Protection (Matt 4:4)

f.      Discernment (Heb 4:12)

3.        Preach God’s Word ( 2 Timothy 2:2 ; 4:2)

g.     Lord commanded us to preach (Matt 28:19)

h.     Brings Salvation who cannot read

i.      Establishes the preacher into a direct contact with God’s mind.

Jesus told his disciples the seriousness of people hearing God’s Word by stating in Mark 6:11,

“And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when you depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a witness against them.  Verily I say unto, it shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the Day of Judgment, than for that city.”
